What is Dermal Filler?

Dermal fillers are an excellent way to improve your appearance! Your face naturally loses collagen and volume over time. They’re a popular way to restore plump, youthful skin while also smoothing out fine lines.  Dermal fillers are injectable substances that can replace facial volume, creating a younger appearance.   Most fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your body.  Fillers have a gel-like consistency and are injected beneath your skin to refine and volumize the natural contours of your face.

Are Fillers Safe?

Dermal fillers have been used for many years and have an excellent safety record. Lasting Beauty chose to offer, some of the best fillers available, having undergone years of clinical trial including Versa, Versa lips, and the Restylane, and Restylane Kysse.

Fillers are a serious procedure that should only be performed by trained professionals. Standards and constant refinement of skills, require continuous education. Aesthetics practitioners at Lasting Beauty Medispa receive ongoing training to ensure best practices and safety.

Dermal fillers also necessitate a trained artistic eye to determine how much product to use and where the injections should be placed for the best results. Finding a provider who has advanced training is of the utmost importance. Therefore, we never recommend “shopping around” or trying a Groupon.

Is getting Filler painful?

At Lasting Beauty Medispa, we use several options to help minimize discomfort. First off, we believe knowledge is powerful. It can help reduce anxiety when you know what to expect and trust your provider. We use topical numbing, have the option to use injectable numbing (commonly used when treating lips), we use distraction techniques, and icing can help. Patients may elect to take Tylenol about 1 hour before arriving for your treatment. It’s also important to note that most fillers at Lasting Beauty have lidocaine already mixed into the filler.

Is there any “downtime” when getting a filler treatment?

Swelling, redness, and tenderness are some of the common, temporary side effects of filler injections.

Following your filler treatment, it is normal to experience some mild swelling, redness, and possibly bruising, which usually Expect these t last only a few days. Over the course of 2-3 weeks, the filler will integrate into your skin. It is common to initially “feel” the filler. At Lasting Beauty Medispa, we have “red light” therapy that your may elect to use after your treatment to help reduce risk of swelling and bruising. It is recommended that you avoid the following substances three days before and after your appointment: alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements, NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Aleve, Aspirin), and smoking. Supplements, such as Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, and Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s and DHA’s), should also be avoided at least 3 days before and after treatment to reduce bruising and bleeding

How much filler will I need?

People aged 40-60+ are more likely to choose filler treatment. It’s critical to realize that we’re replacing 10-20 years of collagen and elastin loss. Having said that, many clients are surprised when we recommend 2-4 syringes for full facial revolumization. Lips typically require only one syringe, sometimes less, and sometimes two separate visits (for very thin lips).

Fillers are available in various “thickness levels.” Your provider will choose the best filler for the area to be treated based on the area of the face and the depth of the volume loss.

How long do face fillers last?

It depends how your body’s metabolism and which hyaluronic acid is used, but most face fillers will last between 6 and 18 months.
